Awards and Volunteer Recognition
D J Ecklebarger received a 2007 Volunteer Award from the City of San Mateo on February 7, 2008 at the Mountain View Senior Center. The annual event was held by the California Park and Recreation Society (CPRS) District VI during a special dinner in honor of outstanding individuals for their professional and volunteer contributions.
D J, over the past three summers, has spent many hours and his own resources planting and maintaining award winning dahlias in a large section of Beresford Park in San Mateo. This summer the city has agreed to give him additional space for his plantings.
Anyone who wishes to see these spectacular flowers in bloom will find them at 28th Avenue and Fernwood Street in San Mateo. The peak blooming times are from the middle of July through the end of September. Anyone from out of town should Google search: 560 28th Avenue, San Mateo CA to locate Beresford Park.
